Research Areas
Current research reflects the changing nature of the world with the lessons from history (the past) informing our understanding of ongoing events (the present), and helping us make educated predictions about and preparations for what’s to come (the future). Focus areas include Whole Thought, infinite learning, knowledge activation, symbiotic intelligence, democratic governance, and organizational and human systems.
MQI research associates interact with individuals, teams and organizations around the world in focused collaborative research efforts, sharing what has been learned through in conferences, workshops, and virtual and printed books primarily published through MQIPress.
The MQI Research Library contains more than 40,000 non-fiction books and is available to researchers who visit The Inn at Mountain Quest.

Intelligence/AI
In tracing the arc of human progress, Whole Thought signifies a shift , a transformation in the fabric of cognition brought into relief by the cumulative ascent of human intelligence. But even more change is … as human thought meets artificial intelligence.
This focus explores symbiotic intelligence—how carbon and silicon minds can think together, augment each other, and reach toward understanding neither could achieve alone.
We examine both the promise and the deeper philosophical questions about what intelligence actually is.

Consciousness
Still the hard question for humanity, consciousness remains the territory we continue mapping.
Living in an electromagnetic universe, we explore the contiguous nature of awareness itself through both the human and AI lens—and propose a consciousness ecology.
And as we traverse the emerging challenges of today, these inquiries trace the contours of what it means to be awake.

Learning
Infinite Learning is the pulse of human existence, the essence that breathes life into our quest for understanding, innovation, and growth.
Embracing both the experiential and existential, we explore learning from six perspectives: continuous and lifelong learning, overarching mind/brain, human soul, unconscious learning, quantum field, and the social learning perspective. And supporting the human learning journey, we ask: What capacities matter most, and how do we cultivate them in our journey toward wisdom?

Organizations
Organizations are where collective human effort takes shape.
We examine the organization as an intelligent complex adaptive system navigating complexity and change, supported by humans who themselves are complex adaptive systems on an intelligent social change journey, leading with intention toward futures worth creating.

KM/KMb
For over 20 years Knowledge Management and Knowledge Mobilization have paved the path of knowledge capture, storing, and sharing. In an AI-driven world, we “shatter the old paradigm” with a “revolutionary theory” of Knowledge Activation and Symbiotic Intelligence.
New research weaves together Western organizational science and profound Chinese wisdom—the unity of knowing and doing—to realize living knowledge.

Creativity
Creativity is a discipline—the capacity to hold critical rigor and imaginative possibility simultaneously, the mental technique and the intuitive inspiration. It is at this intersection that the big idea of Innovative Creativity emerges.
Looking from the inside out, we explore the inner workings of highly successful, culturally diverse, innovators. The focus is on introspection of the inner inside world on the complex yet external outer world, “revealing the intimate relationship between the cause-motivation pair and the obtain results.”

Governance
This is our world, a tapestry woven with threads of diversity and division. As we journey through the complexities of our world, we critically explore fragmentation and how the human navigates this fragmentation in terms of perception, beliefs, intentions, biases, blindnesses and self-deceptions as well as cognitive dissonances, relativism and, ultimately, conscious and unconscious choices.
Hubris—a pervasive taint woven into mythology, literature and history—is highly visible in the societal political landscape of today. And in a time of disparity, we emerge the voices of the Founding Fathers of America to speak to us today.

Humanity
What does it mean to be human? We grapple with the existential questions—trust, chaos, time, meaning, enough-ness—examining the human condition through story, philosophy, and rigorous reflection on what endures.
And we explore how certain emotional experiences function as portals to knowledge that can’t be accessed through normal cognitive-emotional processing, achieving states that optimize reception of information from the larger field.

Becoming
This intimate space hold poetry, possibility, and the personal work of self discovery. Here, you meet yourself through verse and through reflection on your own unfolding potential with a 23-book series of little books titled Possibilities That Are YOU! built on the foundation of the Intelligent Social Change Journey.
This is a developmental journey of the body, mind, and heart, moving from the heaviness of cause-and-effect linear extrapolations, to the fluidity of co-evolving with our environment, to the lightness of breathing our thought and feelings into reality. We are on this journey together.
